EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION
BUNKA GAKUEN

The year 2003 marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of Bunka Gakuen, which has for many years played a leading role in fashion and design education, and is one of the most distinguished institutions of its kind in Japan.
Bunka Gakuen is comprised of two major divisions: the Educational Division and the Business Division.
In its Educational Division, Bunka Women's University provides students with advanced learning and research opportunities and offers degree courses up to and including the post-graduate level. Bunka Fashion College offers students the opportunity to expand their education, to attune to a global perspective and to become professionals in fashion industries around the world. Bunka Institute of Language currently admits foreign students from more than twenty countries, providing them with the highest quality Japanese language education.
In addition to the professional fashion education provided by Bunka Fashion College, Bunka Gakuen opened a Fashion Business School in 2003. This school provides quality education, at the graduate school level, concentrating on practical business affairs. The school takes pride in nurturing creativity with an international sense and the developing highly skilled individuals.
Furthermore, Bunka Gakuen has established five research laboratories, a library that archives a thorough collection of documents related to fashion, a fashion museum, and a resource center, all of which greatly enrich the fashion education provided by Bunka Gakuen. The Bunka International Communication Center coordinates Bunka Gakuen's educational programs with its affiliated schools overseas. It also provides support for foreign students in Japan, as well as Japanese students who wish to study abroad.
The Business Division consists of the Bunka Publishing Bureau, the Bunka Business Bureau and the Bunka Building Bureau. The Bunka Publishing Bureau makes an important contribution to contemporary Japanese fashion activities by providing current fashion information through numerous fashion magazines including So-en, Mrs., and High Fashion. The Bunka Business Bureau develops and markets teaching materials on fashion. The Bunka Building Bureau administers the 23-story Shinjuku Quint Building, which is adjacent to the Bunka Gakuen campus. The revenues from these bureaus help to support the management of Bunka Gakuen.
We have greatly improved our facilities, as well as the educational environment, aiming to provide the best quality education where by each individual student is able to excel in the 21st century. By making use of state-of-the-art science, technology and skills, and by providing the best learning environment for our students, we hope that Bunka Gakuen of Japan will take its rightful place in the world of international education.
