| BUNKA FASHION COLLEGE : FASHION CREATION DEPARTMENT |  | This department offers three courses, Fashion Creation for the 1st and 2nd year levels, Advanced Program of Fashion Creation for the 3rd year level and a one year Intensive Program of Fashion Creation. In Fashion Creation students study design and clothing production, from basic designing to production application. This is a two-year program. The Advanced Program of Fashion Creation is designed for those who want to extend their study to a more advanced level. This program is further divided into three major courses, a Fashion Design Course, a Dressmaking Techniques Course and an Haute Couture Course, each of which aim to nourish advanced specialized knowledge and skills in its field. The Intensive Program of Fashion Creation is a one-year program for students who have already graduated from a university or junior college, but who want to acquire specialized knowledge and skills related to fashion. The Fashion Course offers a curriculum that includes a variety of subjects, providing an overview of the dynamics of the fashion industry, allowing students to acquire expertise in one specific area without falling into narrow perspectives. To make such curricula possible, the Fashion Course has adopted a unique classroom system that allows teachers to give more individual attention to the students. |  |

|  |  |  |  | BUNKA FASHION COLLEGE : FASHION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT |  | The Fashion Technology Department is designed to develop specialists focusing on various functions within the apparel industry. In the 1st year, all students receive a basic, yet comprehensive outline of the entire apparel industry. As well, through the General Program of Fashion Technology, they receive a basic understanding of the techniques used in the manufacturing and production of clothing. This curriculum encourages the students to determine their own objectives throughout course. In the 2nd year, the course is divided into five two-year special curriculums: Apparel Design, Apparel Pattern Making & Production, Apparel Merchandising, Knit-Apparel Design and a Comprehensive Program on Apparel. Students will develop the specialized knowledge and skills required in each area through practical exercise. Each of the former four courses is intended to foster specialists who are capable of planning and carrying out the essential duties required in the manufacturing sector of the apparel industry. The Comprehensive Program of Apparel adopts a comprehensive approach, through which students learn the entire process from designing to marketing strategies. Those who take Apparel Design can major in Menswear Design, and those who take Apparel Pattern-Making & Production can major in Apparel Production Control in their 3rd year. |  | 


| BUNKA FASHION COLLEGE : FASHION BUSINESS & COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT |  | In this Department there are three curricula, Fashion Retail Business, Fashion Coordination, and Fashion Information & Communication. These courses aim to develop competent individuals who can succeed in areas related to fashion distribution and public relations. In the fashion industry, certain sectors play a significant role and greatly affect the value of fashion products: distribution, marketing, and information and image management. Furthermore, the types of businesses in this field are wide-ranging and constantly evolving. Therefore, the curriculum of each course is designed for students to acquire up-to-date professional knowledge and techniques in each field. As well, they acquire a comprehensive, yet highly specialized knowledge on, and sensitivity to fashion. The Advanced Program of Fashion Business & Communication, which is designed for 3rd year students, is further divided into the Fashion Director Course, which places emphasize on improving ones abilities in coordination and expression, and the Fashion Retail Business Course, which focuses on nourishing business management capabilities. |  | 


| BUNKA FASHION COLLEGE : FASHION GOODS & CRAFTS DEPARTMENT |  | This program consists of four courses, Textile Design, Fashion Craft Design, Bag Design and Shoe Design. Textile Design is intended to provide a strong understanding and insight into textiles that are used in the clothing and fashion industry. In addition, it aims to develop individuals who are capable of planning and creating new textiles for use in those same industries. Fashion Craft Design is intended to develop creative instincts. Students will learn how to create crafts using a wide range of production and decorative techniques. As well, they will learn how to present their creations by utilizing contemporary fashion techniques. This course focuses on hats, accessory goods and jewelry accessories. The Bag Design course focuses on developing knowledge of materials and production techniques, while at same time developing design skills. Students are assisted in the creation and development of contemporary designs focusing on beauty, functionality and consumer demand. The Shoe Design course is intended to promote the production of shoes that are beautiful and fashionable, yet at the same time functional and comfortable. During the 1st year, students are introduced to both, a broad range of fashion styles and techniques, and to the basics of their chosen area of study. In their 2nd and 3rd years, the areas of study become more focused and more specialized. The Fashion Crafts Course offers students the opportunity to acquire highly specialized knowledge and skills, as well as flexibility of thought and expression. |  | 


| BUNKA FASHION COLLEGE : CORRESPONDENCE COURSE |  | The correspondence course makes it possible for individuals to study at the college level anywhere, anytime, and without visiting a classroom. It is a highly regarded learning system that meets the demands for lifelong education in our society. The Costume and Fashion Design programs, comprehensive study of dresses and dress ornaments, are accredited by the Ministry of Science and Education. Bunka Gakuen has offered these courses for more than 45 years. Other programs include Pattern-Making, Home Sewing, Fashion Advisors and Stylist Fashion Coordinators. |  | 
| BUNKA FASHION OPEN COLLEGE |  | Bunka Fashion Open College provides the general public with an opportunity for learning. Students have access to Bunka Gakuen's facilities and their studies will be supported by Bunka Gakuen's educational experience. Students are admitted twice a year, in the spring (April or May) and in the autumn (October or November). Day classes and night classes are offered. (The number of classes held differs depending on the course) Distinctions are made between courses where students simply enjoy learning fashion skills, and courses where students seek to obtain professional skills. (Students are free to choose courses that best serve their needs.) Currently there are approximately 140 courses available on a wide variety of subjects. The College aims to enrich and continuously expand these courses in an ongoing attempt to meet the current needs of society. |  |
